TRIVIA!!!

Hmmm...how to describe Trivia in Stevens Point. Well, it's 54 hours of hanging with friends, eating, sleep deprivation and in the middle of all of that....we answer a few odd ball questions. This year Maureen & Madie were invited to play with some friends from school so we joined the team Welcome to the Gaberhood for most of the weekend. Madie REALLY enjoyed herself!

Fun With Friends!

We had a fun evening with our friends, Justin & Julie, at Buffalo Wild Wings. Yummy food, fun trivia and great conversation. When I say yummy food, I mean my wings. I chose 3 different sauces...Garlic/Parmesan, Asian Zing & Teriyaki. I liked the garlic/parmesan and the teriyaki, but the Asian Zing was my favorite. Jim chose a burger, not just any burger, the Big Jack Daddy Burger! Here's how the describe the burger on their menu...

We pile hickory-smoked pulled pork, fried onion rings, cheddar jack cheese and our signature Honey BBQ™ sauce on an already mouthwatering burger.

Sounds killer, huh!?! I can't believe he lived through the experience!

We would like to thank our friend Justin for directing us to the website that tells us all why we're fat........this is their first picture today. Enter at your own risk!

Jim's first blog in a very long time (or mindless ramblings) your choice.....

These are the things that Jim thinks about at 3am...

Do cars in Mexico have antifreeze?

What would it be like to be dripping wet all the time?

He's glad he's not a plant.

He wishes I had boobs on my back....(think about it).
Now you all know why I roll my eyes at him on a fairly regular basis.

If he falls asleep while standing up at work and falls down, will he get workman's comp.?

If he had wooden legs, would they be pressure treated or pine?

Long time, no Blog.....

It's been a while. Lots of stuff going on in the King family, but nothing blog worthy.

Ahhhh....that all changed today, well Sunday, but for you, my faithful reader, today is your day!

While perusing a favorite website of mine, I came across this recipe for fig & walnut biscotti. I LOVE figs and biscotti so I thought this might just be the recipe that would move me to dust off my measuring cups and give baking another go. Before I gave into that kind of complete insanity, I emailed my favorite baking friend, Julie, and asked if she had ever tried them (knowing that she's a fan of Smitten Kitchen, too). She had not, but had seen the recipe and had purchased all of the ingredients needed to make it. So instead of me making a mess in my kitchen, I headed over to her house and she made a mess in hers AND shared the goods when they were done! Hanging out and talking was great too!

Speaking of talking, I asked her about a bread dough she had made and was it really as easy as she made it sound. Yep, it was and to prove it she proceeded to mix up a batch for me and sent me on my way. It takes 12-18 hours to rise, but beyond that, it is truly the easiest thing I've ever made! Mine isn't as pretty as hers, but it tasted like heaven! Melted butter and warm, crunchy bread....it doesn't get any better than that!
I was SO inspired by my bread baking victory that I decided to take the nasty, brown bananas in the corner and turn them into something wonderful too. Taaa daaaa.......Banana bread. Breakfast tomorrow morning should be tasty!

Now I don't want you to think that this will become a habit. I don't bake, we'll leave that to Julie.

Thanks for the inspiration Julie!
My family really appreciates it!

Merry Christmas

Maureen with her favorite gift...A Nintendo DS

Madie with her 2 favorite gifts...Barbie Mariposa (it's a movie) & the Tinkerbell movie

My parents were here for the day. They arrived at 8 this morning and were gone at 4 this afternoon. I wish they could have stayed longer, but they both have to work tomorrow. It was a good day.

Merry Christmas from our family to yours.
